Ingredients
- Ground Beef: 1.5 pounds
- Bread Crumbs: 1/2 cup
- Egg: 1 large
- Onion Soup Mix: 1 packet or 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
- Milk: 1/2 cup
- Salt and Pepper: To taste
- Mushrooms: 1 cup, sliced
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Worcestershire Sauce: 2 tablespoons
- Ketchup: 1 tablespoon
- Butter: 2 tablespoons
- Flour: 2 tablespoons
- Beef Broth: 2 cups
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, onion soup mix, and milk. Mix well and season with salt and pepper.
- Shape the mixture into 4-6 oval-shaped patties.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3 minutes per side, until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of oil. Sauté the sliced mushrooms for 5 minutes, then add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add butter to the skillet. Once melted, sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir to combine. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup. Bring to a simmer and cook until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Return the patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, cover, and simmer on low heat for 15 minutes.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add a splash more Worcestershire sauce to the gravy.
- Ensure the patties are well combined to prevent them from falling apart during cooking.
